About The Artist.....Margie Wise
I began making tie dyes for myself because it was fun and I enjoyed wearing them. Initially, the colors faded, but in 1992 a friend's Aunt told me about Procion dye, and I've been using it ever since. I purchased a kit and some books and, after some experimenting and a lot of trial and error, managed to produce tie dyes that I thought looked pretty good. Over time, I noticed people would compliment me on my work whenever I wore my tie dyes and would ask where I got them. So I began selling by word-of-mouth and in 1997 began attending Festivals where my brightly colored booth attracted still more tie-dye fans. Here's a picture of me at my booth.

At first my kitchen was the only place I had to work on my tie dyes and having a studio or workshop was something I dreamed about for years. In September of 2000 that all changed when I moved into a house that has a space for a workshop in the basement. Here's a picture of me in the shop while it was still under construction.
